About the 2055 Long-Range Transportation Plans

The 2055 Lowcountry Area Transportation Study (LATS) and Lowcountry Council of Governments (LCOG) Long-Range Transportation Plans (LRTPs) address local needs while meeting state and federal requirements to plan for every mode and every traveler over the next 30 years. The plans will consider all modes of travel - driving, biking, walking, transit, freight, and aviation - to make sure the transportation system supports how our region lives, works, and travels. Using data-driven analysis and community input, the LRTPs will identify and prioritize transportation projects across the Lowcountry region to support future growth and opportunities.

Public Information Meetings

Two public information meetings will be held to gather input on the 2055 Long-Range Transportation Plans.

  1. The meeting for the LCOG rural region will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lowcountry Council of Governments Office Board Room (634 Campground Road, Yemassee, SC 29945).
  2. The meeting for the LATS urban region will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Palmetto Electric Cooperative (1 Cooperative Way, Hardeeville, SC 29927).

Information shared will be the same at both meetings. Each meeting will be conducted as an open house with no formal presentation.

These public information meetings are intended to provide an overview of the 2055 LATS Urban and LCOG Rural LRTPs, highlight key transportation trends and existing conditions, and gather community input on transportation concerns and priorities (safety, congestion, reliability, access to jobs and services, etc.) to help shape the region’s transportation future over the next 30 years.

LCOG will accept public comments on the 2055 LATS and LCOG LRTPs from June 8, 2026, to July 8, 2026.
